HotScots FC defeated London Falcons FC in a nail biting penalty shoot out, to win the inaugural Fitlads Cup. With the teams locked at 3-3 after two legs, Hotscots won the shoot out 4-2.
Last April in Edinburgh, a nail-biting penalty finish sent the crowd into a frenzy after a 3-3 draw between HotScots FC and London Falcons FC on this second and final leg of the inaugural Fitlads Cup. They are the first LGBT football team north of the border to ever take victory!
'We were just magnificent,’ Chairman Kevin Rowe said of the victory: ‘The lads worked so hard to grind out a result against the English gay league leaders.’
Founded last year with the aim of organising socials and regular kickabouts, HotScots FC provides a social outlet for LGBT people who wish to watch and participate in football with other
like-minded folk.
In just 15 months, HotScots FC have picked up their first silverware – a perfect result in preparation for the International Gay and Lesbian Football Association World Championship in London between 24th and 30th August 2008.
HotScots FC now boasts more than 75 members and hold kickabouts every Thursday and Sunday. Teams from all over the world will take part in the event, to be held in Regents Park, with the finals to be played at Leyton Orient's Matchroom Stadium.
